Project: This project seeks to understand how the visual and textual strategies of vogue moisturizer ads have shifted between the 1980s and 2000s, and how they mirror social constructs of youth and self-care. It looks at Vogue moisturizer ads and analyzes the scientific buzzwords used, the models presented, and the notions behind the ads in relation to evolving societal constructs of youth and womanhood. It involves an analysis of the representation of models, the target audience demographics, and rhetorical claims in the ads an what they suggest about ideals regarding beauty, aging and being a woman.
Why: This project is important because ads are mirrors of what is going on in society and the cultural values. They document what a society values at every point in time and hint at or explicity suggest what is expected of people. Skincare ads have historically been targeted at women and it would be crucial to see the evolving narratives presented with the ads and what they reveal about societal roles/values.
How: Through an interactive website, the audience will find out some striking revelations and analyses about Vogue magazine’s visual and textual strategies and how they have shifted, and mirrored societal constructs of youth and self-care. This about studying an evolution of societal narratives surrounding skincare, aging and beauty standards.
Process: To form these instagram slides, i used Canva to carefully select and color that goes along with the themes of the project. After that, I looked for some female and moisturizer graphics to cover negative space and to go along with the project’s essence. It was quite easy to put this together once i found the appropriate color. I did pay around with some design elements before i landed at what I have now.

Your title is very capturing! I like your idea of how you can click through the moisterizers to see everything that is in them. I feel like people buy brands and not truley look at what they are using. Going with that i like that you are also incorporating the ads into your work and expanding your topic.
