Title and framing questions
AI is becoming a bigger part of college life. Students use it to answer questions, explain hard topics, brainstorm ideas, and help with assignments. But how does using AI connect to the way students study and perform academically is the main question behind my project. I wanted to look at how college students use AI, whether it connects to their study habits, and what we can learn about its role in education.
Process
I used a dataset from Correa (2026), available through Mendeley Data. The dataset has survey information from college students at a university in Colombia. I focused on AI usage, study habits, and academic performance. I considered getting my own survey responses, but that would have required additional approval for research involving people. Instead, I decided to use an existing dataset. I also had to remember that the data came from one university, so it cannot represent every college student.
Artifact
I created the slides in Canva. I wanted the slides to introduce my topic, explain my research question, show what areas I was exploring, and share why responsible AI use matters. I used a consistent color scheme, good-sized headings, and images to make the information easier to follow. I also added alt text to the images so people using screen readers can understand what they show. The slides are included in this post so readers can look through the project themselves.
Reflection
To me, digital humanities means using technology and digital tools to explore questions about people, culture, and society. My project connects to digital humanities because I am using an existing dataset and digital tools to explore how AI is changing the college experience.
The project also made me think more about how technology affects college students. AI can be useful, but students still need to think critically, check information, and do their own learning. I connected my design to the article, “Good Visual Design, Explained.” The article discusses how color, typography, images, and organization help people understand information. I used these ideas when creating my slides by keeping the same colors and fonts and organizing the information with clear headings. I agree that good design makes information easier to understand, especially when people are looking through content online.

Generative AI Use Declaration
I used ChatGPT to generate images and I used Canva to create and arrange the slides.
I agree that AI is taking over a lot of college students studying habits and it will be interesting to see what information you have at the end. It is a topic i am interested in as someone who does not use it very often.
